What are ELICOS standards?
While this process is similar to that of a Registered Training Organisation, an ELICOS college is bound by its own distinct rules and regulations.
ELICOS Standards set by the government have been around since 2011 and must be met by colleges in order to maintain their standing as Australian English language providers. The updated ELICOS Standards 2018 have eight different procedures for new, existing and transitioning ELICOS providers, each having their own unique requirements that need to be individually met and understood.
Changes to ELICOS Standards
In 2018, several of the key features of the ELICOS Standards were revised. As a result, your college will need to accurately implement these updated changes to your policies and procedures as well as your everyday processes. You will also need to demonstrate these changes are adequately in place to ASQA (the regulatory body) during the application and audit stages.
Increased ASQA scrutiny from July 2018
ASQA also announced earlier this year that from July onward, they will be exercising increased scrutiny on new registration applications. The biggest implication of these changes is a more stringent and less forgiving review process – colleges and RTOs will no longer be able to correct non-compliance issues before a decision is made on their application.
Scrutiny will also apply to other aspects of the audit and compliance processes, including the application process itself, the parties submitting the documentation, as well as college finances.
With these latest changes in effect, it is important to choose an experienced consultant who will do right by your ELICOS college, staff and students to make sure your application is approved.
Why choose us?
The services we provide are important not only for compliance purposes. We will help you sort out your projections and financial reports, organise your information and documentation for your application submission to ASQA. This includes reviewing quality systems and processes, making sure you and your staff understand the systems being set up on your behalf.
Policies and procedures help protect the college to keep it compliant, and provide guidelines to staff to make sure all decisions made are consistent.
Deliberate and well-developed guidelines will not only alleviate the stress and reduce the required workload for management and staff, but will also help streamline teaching delivery and the indoctrination of new staff members by helping them familiarise themselves with your inner processes with minimal training and supervision.
We also save you time, uncertainty and the headache of sorting through confusing government standards.
We work hard to provide you with proven and affordable solutions to ensure the college is compliant and ready to achieve its strategic objectives.
