Transition period extension for Retail Baking Qualifications

The extension to the transition period for the following retail baking qualifications have been approved by ASQA:

  • FDF30710 Certificate III in Retail Baking (Combined)
  • FDF30510 Certificate III in Retail Baking (Cake and Pastry)
  • FDF30610 Certificate III in Retail Baking (Bread)

This extended period for the assessment, training and the issuing of certificates will terminate on 31 December 2019. All future students should be enrolled in the following replacement FBP qualifications:

  • FBP30517 Certificate III in Baking
  • FBP30417 Certificate III in Bread Baking
  • FBP30317 Certificate III in Cake and Pastry

In certain circumstances, as the national vocational education and training (VET) regulator, ASQA is authorised to approve and extended transition periods beyond those stated in Clauses 1.26 (a), (b) and (c) of the Standards for Registered Training Providers (RTOs) 2015.

Applications for an extension of the transition period will be considered by ASQA if they can to a reasonable degree demonstrate an impairment to learners should the extension not be granted.

Please also note that if ASQA does approve an extension to the period of transition, this extension would apply to all RTOs delivering the training product in question and would apply to the whole learner cohort irrespective of the applicant who made the submission for extension. For example, plumbing apprentices in a specific jurisdiction where the qualification has been superseded.
